DPN
DPN Treatment
DPN is a harmless skin condition with dark papules that usually appear on the face, especially near the eyes, cheeks, and neck. It is most often found in individuals with darker skin tones, like African or Asian descent, but can affect anyone.
DPN lesions are small, smooth, dome-shaped growths, usually less than 5 mm in diameter. They resemble moles or warts but are softer and lack a stalk. The exact cause is unknown, but it is believed to involve genetic factors and the proliferation of melanocytes in hair follicles. DPN lesions are typically asymptomatic, but may be bothersome due to their appearance. Treatment options include cryotherapy, electrodessication, laser therapy, or surgical removal, though new lesions may still develop. Preventative measures are not well-established, but sun protection and good skincare habits are recommended for overall skin health.
